The first edition of the Quarry Life Award has seen the fantastic contribution of 80 contestants across 18 countries. Over a field work period of 6 months, students and young researchers developed and tested new ideas to enhance biodiversity in mining environments. A wide variety of projects from species protection to erosion control and educational projects were turned in.
In the fall 2012, 200,000 EUR were awarded to the most outstanding projects of the competition.
HeidelbergCement is proud to congratulate all winners and to thank all the contestants on the progress that has been made on enhancing biodiversity. Action to implement some ideas has already begun but this is just the start.
Sign up to be kept posted on the launch of the second edition in the fall 2013. Nature will be again the biggest winner!
