3 Feb 2012
Last Thursday 26th January, a group of students and professors from the University of Salamanca, visited the quarry of Sanz near Valladolid in Spain. Around 30 persons from several disciplines but all related to Biodiversity discovered one of the Spanish quarries of Hanson Hispania participating in the Quarry Life Award.
After an introduction about the company and the safety recommendations, a presentation was given on the production installations and the quarry itself. Details about the quarry rehabilitation and the company action plan for Biodiversity were explained to the audience.
The tour continued with the visit of the rehabilitated quarry, which won the ANEFA nacional award for renaturation in 1998.
The open day was also a good opportunity to meet the Faculty Dean and the Assistant Dean and to find out even more opportunities to collaborate in the future.
