In Wallonia, quarries represent a large host potential for the species with a high heritage value as orchids and butterflies. However, some invasive species can prevent or slow down the recolonization of these rare species.

This project aims to study one of these invasive species, the butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii Franch.) in three group quarries (Beez, Loën and Romont). This invasive shrub, very abundant in the disturbed environments in quarries but little studied, can be a problem for the quarry rehabilitation in Wallonia.

The aim is to study the spatial and temporal dynamics of the butterfly bush to determine its influence on the vegetation succession.
