In this project we attempt to investigate the level of changes in biodiversity in space and time at the Yongwa quarry site, principally using GIS tools and methodologies. Identifying these dynamics can assist in predicting habitats at the site that are or will become most vulnerable to changes in the future. Locally abundant vegetation species as well as locally depleted vegetation species in and around the quarry site will be identified at the end of the project. The goal of the project is to generate and develop biodiversity data of the area, which will be a critical decision making tool during the closure and rehabilitation stage of the quarry site.
