A) Location

The quarry is located on the outskirts of the village Triefenstein. Furthermore the quarry is sited in the valley of the river “Main”, at the east border of the “Spessart” and 25 km western of Wurzburg. The natural region of this area is the “Marktheidenfelder Platte” (southwest).

B) Overview - Mining and recultivation

Until 1957 the mining for the cement plant Lengfurt was in the quarry Homburger Höhe. From 1957 to 1994 the mining activities was predominantly in the quarry Locksberg. Today, the mining activities are only at the quarry Homburger Höhe.
