Education and awareness raising activities to school children
To engage children in biodiversity conservation we have identified 24 school children from the 6th class (age of 11-12) from Ladik 100. Yıl Secondary School. On 2nd October we visited their school and we have started with a presentation on biodiversity with interactive discussions. The aim was to teach students about biodiversity and its importance in ecosystem level to global level, on how to protect biodiversity and the threatining factors for biodiversity. The students contributed with their own observation from the region on the topic what harms biodiversity
Later the Ladik Limestone quarry site has been visited. The minig activities were explained in detail and the rehabilitation areas were visited to explain how biodiversity increase is promoted through rehabilitation. Planting activities and other rehabilitation acitivities applied in the area were shown on site. Birdwatching was performed on site and at Ladik lake to increase their interest in birds and nature.
