Summer, Botany, and Quarries 🌿

Microalgal biodiversity as the indicator of soil reclamation in sand pit post-mining sites.

It just so happens that all the members of our team work at the Institute of Botany in Třeboň. You could say that the Institute is our scientific headquarters, the center of our #QuarryLifeAward project operations.

We’re lucky that the Institute also has its own Botanical Garden, a living museum filled with various plant species — including some rare and protected ones. And of course, summer is the perfect time to enjoy it!

🌼 Třeboň is a tourist town, and the Botanical Garden attracts many visitors. While enjoying their time there, people also learn about our research. Thanks to informational displays and materials at the reception, anyone can discover more about the Quarry Life Award and meet our team.

Children are excited to grab coloring sheets featuring microalgae, and adults often pick up project brochures. We’re always happy to chat with visitors and share what modern science is all about.
