DNA Quality Check

For some of our strains, the DNA isolation stage was successful, and we have now moved on to the next step — quality assessment of the obtained material.

📊 Spectrophotometric analysis allows us to measure the concentration of DNA in the solution. The device passes a beam of light at a specific wavelength that is absorbed primarily by DNA. This method helps us determine not only the concentration but also the purity of the sample, as well as the presence of impurities that could interfere with further work.

⚡ Electrophoresis provides another important set of data: it allows us to assess the length of DNA fragments and determine whether our DNA is intact or degraded.

💡 Both methods are used together to decide which samples are suitable for the next step — PCR amplification, and which, unfortunately, are not fit for further processing.

🧬 Next comes PCR and the preparation of samples for sequencing. The work continues!
