Abiotic conditions of biodiversity in mineral aggregate mines as a basis for their reclamation / Abiotyczne uwarunkowania bioróżnorodności w kopalniach kruszyw mineralnych jako podstawa ich rekultywacji

At the beginning of August after checkpoint meeting we conducted floristic research in the part of the mine territory that was chosen for Quarry Life Award.

The total vascular flora amounts to 130 species. Most of them are segetal, ruderal and some meadow species. Obviously, we did not consider species cultivated plants in our wool experiment!

Is it small or large number? Taking into account quite acid substratum and relatively small area it is surprisingly high amount.

By the way, we are not botanists but interesting species was recorded European mantis (Mantis religiosa). Until recently, this species was found in Poland only in the southern part of the country, in warm, dry locations. Currently, this insect can be found throughout the country – its range has clearly shifted northward due to climate warming.
