From Seed to Sprout — Tracking Germination Success
Seeding is only the beginning — the real test is germination.
In our project, we closely monitored how well Acacia polyacantha seeds germinated after aerial distribution by drone. Each bund received 20 seeds, and the results were more than promising.
On average, 18 out of 20 seeds germinated per bund
That’s a germination rate of 90%
Seeds dropped from 2–4 metres had the highest success, proving that altitude matters in aerial seeding
These results show that with the right drone calibration and environmental setup (earth bunds + topsoil), drones can achieve germination rates that match or exceed traditional methods — without the labor-intensive nursery stage.
This isn’t just a technical success — it’s a step closer to scalable, fast, and regenerative restoration.
