We are proud to share a major milestone in our restoration journey at Wazo Hill Quarry:
An 89.7% germination success rate for Dalbergia melanoxylon, which is the scientific name for the Mpingo tree (African Blackwood), during our seed viability test.
This breakthrough is not just a technical win - it’s a powerful signal that native trees like Mpingo, with cultural, ecological, and economic value, can successfully return to degraded landscapes when supported by science-led restoration models.
