COMMUNITY-BASED ECONOMIZATION OF REHABILITATED AREA THROUGH BEEHIVES AT TPCPLC QUARRY

This project will involve introduction of Stingless bees(Meliponines) beehives to the existing rehabilitated quarry area since Most of peoples believe that quarry areas are useless after extraction (Malesa, et al., 2018), but there is a lot of entrepreneurial conservation activities can be done as the way of restoring biodiversity, while supporting livelihood of the adjacent communities. Nevertheless, the quarry can be used as demonstrations area whereby community around could learn and develop entrepreneurship skills to gain their income. The project aims at improving peoples understanding on the quarry activities with economization of the rehabilitated area where the beehives will be set for beekeeping and direct benefit the local engaged community and the staffs while supporting rehabilitation through increasing biodiversity specifically potential pollinators.
