Wild bees in the quarries of Pays de la Loire

Because of the original environments they can offer (quarry faces, merlons, stripped surfaces, etc.), quarries provide numerous potentially favorable habitats for wild bees in anthropized contexts that are restrictive for the species (lack of nesting sites or sufficient food resources). Although inventories have been carried out in quarries, particularly sandpits, for several years in Pays de la Loire, no targeted research has been carried out in massive rock quarries. The aim of this project is to draw up an inventory of the wild bee species known to exist in the quarries of the Heidelberg Materials group in the Loire region, to establish a capture protocol for a massive rock quarries (Sainte-Pazanne, 44) and to propose a summary of the knowledge acquired to improve the way pollinators are taken into account in extraction sites.
