Pure cultures – achieved!

Our project continues, and so does our laboratory work! Previously, we wrote about direct microscopic observation of soil samples collected from the sand quarry. Now, we’ve moved on to an important new phase cultivation and isolation of microalgal strains.

We have already obtained several algal strains, which will be deposited in the Culture Collection of Autotrophic Organisms (CCALA). These strains will also undergo molecular analysis, including the sequencing of marker genes, to clarify their taxonomic status.

Nevertheless, the work continues, and some strains are still being purified – this process requires patience and precision.

It’s detailed work – but deeply rewarding. Step by step, we’re uncovering how microscopic organisms help restore degraded soils and ecosystems.

Stay tuned – there’s more to come!
