Ladik limestone quarry is approximately 2.5 km far from Ladik cement plant and located just behind the cement plant. Permitted mining area is 247.75 ha and the mining land is forest area.

Description

Open-pit mining, with drilling & blasting technique is applied for limestone extraction. Following loading with wheel loaders and excavators, blasted materials are transported by using trucks.

Topographical description

The nearest place, İskaniye village, is 1 km far from the quarry site. The quarry area is on the high altitude around 1200 m.

Habitat, flora & fauna description

Continental climate conditions are occurred. Winter is cold and snowy, spring is with heavy rains and summer season is cool. A wide variety of flora and fauna around the region can be seen because the area is on the effect of continental climate and Black Sea-moderate climate. Maples, thickets, meadows, larches and pine trees are the main flora. Hawk birds, salamander, frogs, bees, hedgehogs, grasshoppers, rabbits, rocky mouses, wild boars are the main types of animal species around the region.
