Life Returns to Ait Baha Quarry Ponds !
We visited the Ait Baha quarry to assess the managed ponds and a herpetofauna site.
The results are very encouraging: in two out of four ponds, we observed new amphibian reproduction and active individuals. We also detected tracks of birds, squirrels, and foxes, showing that multiple species are already using these restored habitats. A camera trap was installed to monitor future wildlife visitors around the ponds, helping us better document biodiversity recovery.
Amphibians and reptiles are sentinel species: when we create the right conditions for them, many other animals are directly or indirectly attracted to the ecosystem, reinforcing its resilience and diversity.
