The face of the landscape in which we live has been shaped for many centuries. Pastoralism was an integral part of caring for this landscape and its current state. In recent years, there has been an effort to return to grazing farming methods. In the Czech Republic, this is evidenced, among other things, by the National Landscape Care Program and a number of enthusiasts who are engaged in these activities.Sheep and goat grazing is especially suitable for less accessible, mountain and foothill pastures. Another possibility of use is offered on pastures with less yield, such as in the restoration of the landscape in quarries and sand pits. These reasons, and above all the popularity of these animals for their widespread use, mean that sheep and goats are bred practically throughout the human-populated world.Ing. Irena Zakova, Ing. Miloslav Bilek, CSc. and Ing. Pavla Bendová states that it turns out that the care of the landscape is not possible in the long run only by mowing lawns and carving trees. Sheep and goat grazing is therefore a logical connection to all work in the reclamation of quarries and sand pits. This project will focus on the possibilities and sustainability of grazing in the mining area as a tool for the care of valuable steppe vegetation.
