Our aim is to create an innovative restoration concept for the abandoned parts of a limestone quarry in Central Europe. As example we have chosen the HeidelbergCement quarry "Burglengenfeld" near Regensburg. The central idea of the concept is to combine a state-of-the-art ecological foundation with high standards in landscape design. The objective for the study site is to replace uncoordinated small-sized restoration measures by a holistic restoration plan.
