30 Ktons/year of schist have been extracted from the Kovukdere schist quarry. The mining area has 31,06 Ha. and the mining land is treasury land. There are 7 benches on the quarry. Tree plantation has been started from top (7) bench which is the run-of-mine area of the quarry and this process is going on in every rainy-Autumn season. This year 6th bench will be planted. 

There is a road 500 m. apart from the quarry. The nearest place which is Çakıl village, 400m. far from the quarry site. There isn’t any river or lake around the quarry region.

Habitat, flora & fauna description: 

There is a transition climate between Mediterranean and Blacksea conditions around the Marmara region. Therefore; there is a warm climate and the main flora is  maquis around the region. Plus, weed & shrubs are existing. Invertebrates, reptiles, mammals and birds are the main types of animal species around the region.
